The City Council of the City of Newport Beach met in regular • session in the council chambers of the City Hall at the hour of 7:30 P.M. , The roll was called, the following councilmen answering present: Finch, Ramsey, Blue, Isbell; Councilman Greeley being absent. The Mayor asked if any of the councilmen or anyone in the audience wished the minutes of the previous meeting or any part thereof, read. No one responded, and the reading of the minutes was waived. The regular monthly demands, having been approved by the Finance Committee and signed by the Mayor and City Clerk, were ordered paid on mo- tion of Councilman Blue, seconded by Councilman Finch and the following roll call vote: AYES, COUNCILMEN: Finch, Ramsey, Blue, Isbell. NOES, COUNCILMEN: None ABSENT COUNCILMEN: Greeley ' The monthly report of receipts and disbursements was presented, and on motion of Councilman Finch, seconded by Councilman Blue and carried, was ordered filed. HEADS OF DcTARTMENTS. . The City Manager requested authority to advertise for bids for Permission to sell the sale of the harbor patrol boat known as the "Paddy ". Newport Fishermen's Grange No. 776 requested recognition as an organization in the Newport Harbor Area, and on motion of Councilman Finch, Not.Fishermen's Grange seconded by Councilman Ramsey and carried, the request was ordered filed. The League of Civic Associations commended the Council on its work with the Orange County Planning Commission in connection with the control of oil wells near the City limits. The West Newport Beach Improvement Association presented the fol- lovaing resolutions: A. In opposition to any zoning change in the district proposed W.N.B. Imn.Assn. as a site for the Pacific Electric Railway Station. Resolutions. B. Requesting prohibition of parking on Seashore Drive from Orange Avenue to 36th Street. On motion of Councilman Finch, seconded by Councilman Blue and carried, the resolution opposing any zoning change was referred to the Plan- ning Commission for study and recommendation. On motion of Councilman Finch, seconded by Councilman Ramsey and carried, the resolution requesting prohibition of parking on Seashore Drive was referred to the Traffic Committee for report at the next meeting of the ' Council. 0 • A letter to the Board of Directors of the Shorecliffs Property Owners' Association asking the City to form an assessment district for the purchase of lots fronting on Coast Highway, to be deeded to the City and maintained as public parks, was read, and on motion of Coun- cilman Finch, seconded by Councilman Blue and carried, the request was tabled for study.
