CA -81 i 1 The City Attorney requested Mr. Donald Paul Travis, Building Inspector of the ty o , Newport Beach, to present additional testimony, and evidence of the condition of the premises; at 806 East Ocean Front, Balboa. Mr. Travis ; stated that on April 6, 1959, he had observed; evidence of termites on the threshhold at the; front entrance to the Ocean View Apartments. ; He stated that there was also evidence of ; termites in the east wall of the garage. 1 Attorney Oliver Clark, representing the owner of the property, spoke from the audience and stated he had no further questions to ask Mr. Travis. Walter C. Noller, Fire Marshall for the City of Newport Beach since 1953, was sworn in. He stated that an examination of the premises at 806 East Ocean Front had revealed numerous potential fire hazards, which he enumerated. Attorney Clarke stated he had no questions to ask Mr. Noller. ; Mr. Dean Kephart, General Building Contractor,; was sworn in. He stated that it was feasible; to repair the buildings located on subject premises but that the cost would be high. To make minimum repairs, in his estimation, the ; cost would be not less than $10,000. He further stated said repairs would not bring ; the buildings up to Code. ; Mr. John Vogel spoke from the audience suggesting that the front building on the ; premises be repaired and the rear building be; demolished. Mr. Vogel stated the front ; building was built in 1920 and additions were; made in 1930. The rear building was built in; 1930. ; Attorney Clark, representing Mrs. Dorothy Phoenix, spoke from the audience and stated. that he and his client were in receipt of a letter from the Building Department which, in his opinion, would eliminate the necessity of further discussion.as his client intended to perform in-accordance with necessary require- ments to eliminate all hazards on the premises to human safe yAf tdis- cussion ensued: .
