Mrs. J. C. Wright's. request that public parking be allowed in the alley next to 804 West Ocean Front, the dead -end portion only. Mr. Simpson stated that.,the. Fire, Police, and Lifeguard Departments have no objections. to parking in subject alleys.. The Public Works Director. had some apprehension as to possible controversies. regarding parking rights-of the individual property owners. The. City Attorney was instructed to prepare the neces amendment, to the Municipal Code to provide. for per- mitting parking in alleys by Council resolution. 14.,(Agenda Item H -15) The petition of property owners of 3 all the lots in Block. 145, Canal Section, Newport Beach, requesting the dedication as a.public, street, the aban- doned.waterway from Balboa Boulevard to Channel Place was.presented for consideration. The Planning Commission, on August 18„ 1960, recom- mended approval of the. request, subject to the conditions that street improvements be provided by the, property owners, and that such improvements be;in accordance with the specifications of the Public Works Department.
