Date: May 13, 1974 MINUTES INDEX nt x x x x x X Roll Call. Mayor McInnis extended the privilege of the floor to Councilman Croul. Councilman Croul expressed his appreciation to the staff for their performance during his term \of office, and gave special praise to City Manager Robert Wynn. Mayor McInnis, on behalf of the Council, presented a bronze plaque to Councilman Croul in appreciation for his dedicated services to the City of Newport Beach as Councilman from 1970 to 1974. Mayor McInnis, on behalf of the Council, also presented Councilman Croul with one of the old Council chairs which had been deemed to be no longer serviceable. Councilman Croul retired from the Council table. Mayor McInnis turned the meeting over to the City Clerk. City Clerk Laura Lagios requested Councilwoman -elect Lucille Kuehn to come forward and administered the Oath of Office, as prescribed in the State Constitution, and delivered to Councilwoman Kuehn a Certificate of Election. Councilwoman Kuehn took her seat at the Council table. Mayor McInnis asked former Councilman Kymla to come forward and also presented him with one of the old Council chairs which had been deemed to be no longer serviceable. x CONTINUED BUSINESS: m 1. City Clerk Laura Lagios presided as Chairman Pro Tempore for the selection of Mayor. n x It was established that nominations would be made x x x x x x x by secret ballot and that the election would be conducted by roll call vote. The Deputy City Clerk passed out ballots to the Council for the office of Mayor. Chairman Lagios announced that Councilman McInnis had been nominated for Mayor by a majority vote. Chairman Lagios announced that Donald A. McInnis had been elected Mayor by unanimous vote. Mayor McInnis took office and expressed his appreci- ation to Council for their confidence and to the public in general and to the staff for making possible the Council's foals, and commented on the tasks still before the Council, including the completion of the General Plan. 2. It was established that the same procedure would be followed for election of Mayor Pro Tempore, nomi- nations by secret ballot and election by roll call vote. The Deputy City Clerk passed out ballots to the Council for the office Mayor Pro Tempore. The City Clerk announced that Milan Dostal had been nominated as Mayor Pro Tern by a majority vote. Councilman Dostal was elected Mayor Pro Tempore by unanimous vote. Mayor Pro Tem Dostal thanked everyone and com- mended former Mayor Pro Tern Rogers on his out- standing performance in that office.
