Newport Beach Municipal Code Chapter 5.15 regulates the operations
of tow truck companies providing official police tow services. This
chapter provides for two official police tow agencies operating
under a contractual agreement with the City. G&W Towing and Harbor
Towing are currently the two official police tow agencies. Each
contract is for a two year period, and expire on alternate years.
The contract with G & W Towing Inc. expires on February 7, 1990.
Municipal Code requires a hearing before the City Council following
an open bid period.
Recommendation
This office recommends the Mayor and City Council authorize the
City Clerk to open the bidding for official police tow contract.
