Carol A. Hoffman is Vice President, Entitlement and Community
Company, which is developing the nation's largest master planned urban environment on almost
55,000 acres of land it o-,vns in Orange County, California.
As Vice President of Entitlement and Community Relations, Hoffman coordinates entitlement for
specific projects and community relations efforts for the corporate operating divisions of The Irvine
Company. This responsibility involves directing The Irvine Company's efforts to communicate and
negotiate with local agencies, environmental and community groups in each of the company's
jurisdictions, planning corporate involvement in community events and outreach activities, and
directing the corporate contributions program.
Hoffman first joined The Irvine Company in 1979 as manager of Government Relations. After
leaving in 1981, she rejoined the company in 1987 as Senior Director of Resource Entitlement. She
also served as Vice President of Entitlement for the Coastal Community Builder division of The
Irvine Company, where she had responsibility for the company's entitlement and land use issues
for the Newport Coast and Laguna Laurel projects.
Prior to rejoining The Irvine Company in 1987, she served as president of Hoffman Business
Consultants, an entitlement consulting firm in Irvine NOth projects throughout Southern California.
Earlier in her career, she held both public and consulting positions where she directed city and
regional planning projects in the cities and counties of Southern California.
Hoffman's public and civic service affiliations include serving as immediate past chair and member
of the Executive Board of Irvine Medical Center and member of the board of The Irvine Health
Foundation. She is a member of the board of the Orange County Performing Arts Center, the
Laguna Canyon Fowidation, the California Wildlife Foundation, and a past president and capital
campaign co-chair for Mardan Center. She also served as the 1991 chair of the Orange County

California Chapter Planner of the Year. She was also
of the Year in 1984, honorary Irvine Soroptimist for 1989, received the YWCA Achievement of
Excellence Award in 1991, was named 1991 Civic Leader of the Year by the Irvine Education
Foundation, and was included in the Orange Count l Metro olitan "Women Who Make a
Difference, 1991."
Hoffman holds a bachelor of arts degree from California State University, Los Angeles. She resides
in Newport Coast and has a grown son.
