SUBJECT: VACATION AND ABANDONMENT OF A PORTION OF UNUSED PUBLIC UTILITY
EASEMENT FOR SEWER PURPOSES
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Adopt a Resolution ordering the vacation and abandonment of an
unused portion of a public utility easement for sewer purposes
crossing Lot 21 of Block 736, Corona del Mar tract.
2. Direct the City Clerk to have the Resolution recorded by the
County Recorder.
DISCUSSION:
The property owner of 721 Jasmine Avenue, Mr. Tom Butterworth, has
requested that the unused portion of existing sewer easement be abandoned so
that he can construct a garage. This easement has not been used for at least
five years; the City has no facilities within that portion of easement to be
abandoned and has no future plans to use the easement.
It is recommended that the City Council approve the Resolution and
that the subject easement be summarily vacated.
