SUBJ: MEET & CONFER FISCAL YEAR 84/85 - NEWPORT BEACH POLICE EMPLOYEES ASSN.
The City Negotiating Team has reached an agreement with the Newport Beach Police
Employees Association. The Agreement can be summarized as follows:
1. Total Compensation Insrease:
a. Sworn: 5.0%
b. Non -Sworn: 6.5%
2. Salary Increase:
a. Sworn: class -by -class adjustment
b. Non -Sworn: 7.4% across-the-board
3. Scholastic Achievement Plan - sworn personnel only.
Increase payment schedules by 10% effective July 1, 1984.
4. On or about October 1, 1984, the City agrees to reopen meet/
confer process for the purpose of meeting & conferring on the
issues of modifying the current health insurance plan and pro-
viding a retiree health insurance plan. The City shall limit
the reopener to these items and to those items which may be
affected should agreement be reached.
5. The City will conduct a feasibility study on the Employee
Assistance Program. This item will be subject to the reopener
in October.
RECOMMENDATION: In accordance with the City Council's direction, it is recommended
that the attached Memorandum of Understanding for Fiscal Year 84/85 be approved
effective July 23, 1984.
