RE: Tentative agreement with the Newport Reach Police Employees

THE FOLLOWING POINTS HAVE BEEN AGREED TO BY THE
NEGOTIATORS FOR THE NBPEA AND THE CITY NEGOTIATORS, AS A
PRODUCT OF THE MEET AND CONFER PROCESS AS REQUIRED BY THE
MEYERS, MILLIAS, AND BROWN ACT. FINAL AGREEMENT IS SUBJECT
TO RATIFICATION BY THE MEMBERS OF THE NBPEA AND THE
MEMBERS OF THE NEWPORT BEACH CITY COUNCIL.
1. BEREAVEMENT LEAVE
Modify the MOU between the NBPEA and the City to reflect a change in the
definition of immediate family to include the employee's spouse's mother,
father, brother and sister.
2. NIGHT SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL FOR CIVILIAN EMPLOYEES
The City and the NBPEA agree to modify appendix "A" of the MOU by
changing the night shift differential .for civilian employees from $.70/hr. to
$1.00/hr. This change will become effective on the first pay period following
the City Council's adoption of this agreement. It is also understood by all
parties to this agreement that concurrent with this change in rate the
department will no longer include the night shift differential in the
calculation of overtime, but instead if overtime occurs between the hours of
5:00 P.M. and 8:00 A.M. the night shift differential will be added after the
overtime rate has been calculated.
