(c) SUBJ: CONTRACT REOPENER - RETIREE HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN Background: During the meet -and -confer process with the Newport Beach Professional/Technical Employees Association for Fiscal Year 1984/85, the City agreed to reopen the contract for the purpose of meeting -and -conferring on the issues of modifying the current Health Insurance Plan and providing a Retiree Health Insurance Plan. Discussion: Since October 1, 1984, the City Negotiating Team and representatives of the Professional/Technical Employees Association have met and -conferred on the issues of amending the is current health insurance plan and for providing a Retiree Health Insurance Plan. Both negotiating teams have reached agreement and the agreement was presented to and ratified by the membership of the Professional/Technical Employees Association. In the opinion of City staff, the agreement is in accordance with City Council direction. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the attached signed amendment to the Fiscal Year 1984/85 Memorandum of Understanding with the Professional/Technical Employees Association be approved by the City Council. 4-- ;" LorbTrzZb Mota,LPersonnel Director 0 RESOLUTION NO.8 4 - X 40 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH IMPLEMENTING BENEFIT INCREASES FOR EMPLOYEES WHO ARE MEMBERS OF THE NEWPORT BEACH PROFESSIONAL/TECHNICAL ASSOCIATION - (NBPTA) WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach, through its negotiating team, has reopened the Contract for meet and confer process, has met and conferred with representatives of the Newport Beach Professional/Technical Association - (NBPTA) concerning the issues of modifying the current health insurance plan and providing a Retiree Health Insurance Plan for fiscal year 1984 - '85; WHEREAS, the City Council is desirous of implementing, effective December 10, 1984, its proposal to the Newport Beach Professional/Technical Association - (NBPTA) for increasing benefits provided to its members. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach that the benefit changes for members of the Newport Beach Professional/Technical Association - (NBPTA), for fiscal year 1984 - '85, shall be as set forth in Exhibit "A" which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
