The agreement can be summarized as follows: 1. Total compensation increase: 16.5% 2. Inclusive in the total compensation increase, the City agreed to the following: a. Payment of one-half (4.5%) of the employees' PERS contri- bution. b. Rank -by -rank salary increase. c. Five percent (5%) Tillerman assignment bonus. 3. Prudential Health Insurance Maximum Major Medical benefit changed from $250,000 to unlimited at no premium increase to the City. .. J RESOLUTION N0, I *A n 9-6 .a A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH APPROVING THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING NEGOTIATED BY REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NEWPORT BEACH FIRE FIGHTER'S ASSOCIATION AND THE CITY'S REPRESENTATIVES WHEREAS, Resolution No. 7173 of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach provides that the City Representatives and Representatives of the Newport Beach Fire Fighters Association will meet and confer in good faith regarding matters within the scope of representation; and WHEREAS, the City Representatives and Representatives of the Newport Beach Fire Fighters Association have jointly recommended approval of this Memorandum of Understanding by the City Council, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Newport Beach does hereby approve the Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Newport Beach and the Newport Beach Fire Fighters Association, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, and authorizes the City's Representatives to execute the same on behalf of the City of Newport Beach, effective July 1, 1981. CONTRIBUTION RATE During the meet and confer process with Newport Beach Firefighters Association, the City offered a 16.5% increase. During the negotiation process, the employee representatives requested that the City pay the entire employee P.E.R.S. contri- bution rate. The City subsequently agreed to pay one-half (4.5%) of the Employees P.E.R.S, contribution rate.
