HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/10/1994 Item #5Corr of WEVVI C: t JAN 1 0199Q January 10, 1994 City Council Agenda Item No. 's ffffla EET, - Ik T December 31, 1993 TO: Honorable Mayor Turner and Members of the City Council FROM: City's Negotiations Team Z ��11- RE: Tentative agreement with the Newport Beach Fire Management Association (NBFMA) THE FOLLOWING POINTS HAVE BEEN AGREED TO BY THE NEGOTIATORS FOR THE NBFMA AND THE CITY NEGOTIATORS, AS A PRODUCT OF THE MEET AND CONFER PROCESS AS REQUIRED BY THE MEYERS, MILLIAS, AND BROWN ACT. FINAL AGREEMENT IS SUBJECT TO RATIFICATION BY THE MEMBERS OF THE NEWPORT BEACH CITY COUNCIL. 1. Economics A COLA adjustment of no less than 3% to be effective on the first pay period of 1994. 2. Pay and Benefit Information During the life of this MOU, the City will develop a method for the reporting and updating of accruing pay and benefits to NBFMA members. The method which will eventually be selected will be subject to the approval of the NBFMA executive board. 3. Fitness Evaluation/Examinations The City agrees to allow NBFMA members to include limited cancer screening as a part of the annual fitness evaluation/examination, the limitations will be negotiated and spelled out in a supplemental document. 1 4. Duration The term of the MOU shall be from January 1, 1994 through December 31,1994. 5. PrevailingRights The City and the NBFMA agree to develop a "Prevailing Rights" article to be incorporated in this MOU, this section of the agreement additionally provides for the maintenance of all rights and privileges enjoyed by NBFMA members prior to the establishment of the association. 6. I= Du The City agrees to amend the Fire Department's jury duty policy to allow for suppression employees to be excused for the entire 24 hour shift, while on jury duty. 7. Salary Differential The NBFMA and the City agree to set a 5% differential between the top salary step for Fire Captain and the entry salary step for the position of Fire Battalion Chief, in exchange the NBFMA agrees to forfeit any claim to a sixth step in their salary range. 2
