Authorize the Mayor to sign the "Automatic Aid Agreement Among the Cities
of Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Westminister and
the County of Orange."
Discussion:
Approval of this request will cause the City of Newport Beach to enter
into an agreement to provide automatic aid for fire services between the
cities of Huntington Beach, Westminster, Fountain Valley and the County of
Orange. Coordination of automatic aid responses will be controlled by the
consolidated fire emergency commmunications center.
This agreement will authorize the closest available unit to respond to an
emergency regardless of jurisdictional boundaries. It will also authorize
the sharing of resources when major emergencies occur.
The administration of this agreement will be the responsibility of the
Fire Chief of each city and the county.
Copies of the Agreement are on file in the City Clerk's office.
