Dear Mr. Pendleton:
It was with regret that I received your letter of April 1, 1989.
The request to resign from the Aviation Committee is reluctantly
accepted, but at the same time I hope that your new move will be
fruitful and rewarding to you and your wife.
If you can continue at your post until June 1, it will be most
appreciated. That will give the City Council time to properly
screen candidates for your seat and at the same time will afford
the Committee an opportunity to continue its work with full
membership and alternates. In the interim, a copy of your letter
and a copy of my response will be forwarded to the City Clerk.
The City Clerk will be asked to agendize your replacement for the
second meeting in May of the City Council, thereby, enabling your
replacement to assume your seat for the upcoming June meeting of
the Aviation Committee.
Thank you again for your service to the community. We do hope
that you and your family will be happy living in Irvine and that
you will no longer be plagued with aircraft noise.

I must resign from the Aviation Committee effective
Jume 1, 1989, or sooner, if you _prefer, in order to
fill the vacancy promptly.
Our home on Balboa, Island is in escrow and we will
be moving to a new home in Irvine on or about June l., 1989.
It's been a most interesting assignment. I appreciate
the City Council's decision to give me this experience
and to make it possible to meet many new people with
a common interest. I'm sorry to leave the committee
after such a short time but not being a resident of
Newport Beach makes it necessary.
I wish ,you and the committee the best in your activities
and endeavors.
