Court allows noise suit:
A federal court ruling allowing
Chicago to be sued for damages
blamed on noise from O'Hare In-
ternational Airport was hailed
Wednesday as a breakthrough in
the fight to cut the din in subur-
ban communities.
The ruling could prompt a flood
of litigation in county courts over
airport noise or other nuisances,
said Joseph Karaganis, the attor-
ney who filed the lawsuit.
Karaganis estimated 210,000
residents in 20 city and suburban
neighborhoods could sue the city
under the ruling.
