The attorneys who represent the County of Orange in
Washington, D.C. on legislative matters have recently joined
the law firm of which I am a member. This relationship
between my law firm and the County could potentially give
rise to a conflict of interest should I remain a member of
the City's Aviation Committee. Therefore, I believe it is
in the best interest of the City and the Aviation Committee
that I submit this resignation from the Committee effective
as of this date.
I truly enjoyed the opportunity of serving on the
Committee over the past four years. I wish the Committee
and the City Council much success in their negotiations with
the County regarding a binding agreement for the future
growth of J.W.A. It has always been my hope that such a
long-range agreement would be forthcoming. I am convinced
that a mutually satisfactory resolution of the airport noise
problem now will accrue to the benefit of all the citizens
of Orange County and save the City a great deal of time and
money in the future.
Finally, I wish to thank you, Don, personally for the
leadership you provided on the Committee. The courtesy you
afforded the individual committee members, who from time to
time expressed very strong and diversified opinions on
various agenda items, provided the direction we needed to
accomplish our task.
