HomeMy WebLinkAbout1418 - Bicycle Traffic on Coast Highway BridgeR- ORDINANCE NO. 14 18 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING SECTION 12.56.150 OF THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE REGULATING BICYCLE TRAFFIC ON COAST HIGHWAY BRIDGE AT THE SANTA ANA RIVER The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section 12.56.150 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code is amended to read: "12.56.150 Riding Regulations. The rider of a bicycle upon a roadway shall ride as nearly as practicable within five feet of the righthand curb or edge of the roadway, except: 1. When passing a standing or other vehicle; 2. When making a lefthand turn at an inter- section; 3. When crossing the Santa Ana River at the Coast Highway Bridge, in which case the rider of a bicycle shall walk his bicycle on the existing sidewalk along the south edge of the roadway; no bicycle shall be ridden on said Coast Highway Bridge." SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be published once in the official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be effective 30 days after the date of its adoption.
