AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
AMENDING SECTION 12.40.030 OF THE NEWPORT
BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE
RESPONSIBILITIES OF OWNERS OF PRIVATE
COMMERCIAL PROPERTY TO HAVE AN ATTENDANT
AVAILABLE TO ADVISE PERSONS OF THE LOCATION
OF TOWED VEHICLES
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach DOES
ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 12.40.030 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code is amended to read:
"12.40.030 (A) Parking on Private Property. No
person shall park a vehicle in a private driveway or
on private property without the direct or implied
consent of the owner or person in lawful possession
of such driveway or property.
The owner or person in lawful possession of private
property,other than residential property of less than
ten (10) units, who causes illegally parked vehicles
to be removed or stored shall have an attendant or
agent available on the premises during business hours
to advise persons whose vehicles have been towed where
such vehicles are being stored.
(B)" Posting. The premises from which illegally
parked vehicles are removed shall be posted with
appropriate signs in accordance with Section 22658(a)
of the California Vehicle Code. In addition to the
Police Department phone number required by Section
22658(a) C.V.C., said signs shall include the following:
'For information concerning the location of towed
vehicles call the following number prior to making
inquiry through the Police Department. No. 644 -3681

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be published once
in the official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be
effective thirty days after the date of its adoption.
This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on the
29th day of May , 1979, and was
adopted on the llth day of June
by the following vote, to wit:
