AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
AMENDING SECTION 1.12.020 (6) OF THE NEWPORT
BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE DELETING THEREFROM THE
TRAINING AND SAFETY INSPECTOR AND ADDING
THERETO THE REFUSE INSPECTOR AS PUBLIC
OFFICERS OR EMPLOYEES ENABLED TO MAKE ARRESTS
WHEREAS, Section 1.12.020 (6) of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code designates public officers and employees empowered
to make arrests for any violation of Chapter 6.04 of the Newport
Beach Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, said Section provides that the Training and
Safety Inspector is included within the Public Officer and
Employee category therein defined; and
WHEREAS, the position of Training and Safety Inspector
has been deleted from the General Services Department; and
WHEREAS, said function is now performed by the Refuse
Inspector and it is appropriate for the Refuse Inspector to be
given the authority to make arrests for violations of Chapter
6.04 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach DOES ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 1.12.020 (6) of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 1.12.020 (6). The General Services
Director, the Assistant General Services
Director, the Refuse Foreman, the Assistant
Refuse Foreman, and the Refuse Inspector shall
have the power to make arrests for any viola-
tions of Chapter 6.04 of this Code."
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be published once in
the official newspaper of the City and the same shall be effec-
tive thirty (30) days after the date of its adoption.
This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on
the 8th day of September , 1980, and was
adopted on the 22nd day of September 1980, by
the following vote, to wit:
