AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH REPEALING CHAPTER 20.75
(ELECTRONIC VIDEO GAME MACHINES) OF THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE,
AND AMENDING CHAPTER 20.87 (DEFINITIONS) BY ADDING THERETO, SECTION .264
(RECREATIONAL ESTABLISHMENTS), DEFINING TERM, USE OR PURPOSE
(Planning Commission Amendment No. 578)
• The City Council of the City of Newport Beach DOES ORDAIN as
follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 20.75 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code is
hereby repealed.
SECTION 2. Chapter 20.87 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code is
hereby amended by adding thereto, Section .264, as follows:
"20.87.264 Recreational Establishment. The term
'recreational establishment' shall mean any building,
structure, or portion thereof, or any business or
enterprise, the primary use or purpose of which is
amusement or recreational activities, and shall include
but not be limited to an arcade with amusement devices
as defined in Chapter 5.34, miniature golf courses,
gyms, health clubs, car racing facilities, tennis
clubs, golf courses, and other businesses or enter-
prises that are of a similar nature."

SECTION 3.
This ordinance shall be published once in
the official
newspaper of the City
and the same shall be effective thirty (30)
days after
the date of its adoption.
This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Newport Beach held on the loth day of January ,
1983, and was adopted on the 24th day of January , 1983, by the following
vote, to -wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN Hart, Maurer, Heather,
Cox, Strauss, Agee, Plummer
NOES, COUNCILMEN None
ABSENT COUNCILMEN None
