HomeMy WebLinkAbout484 - Marine Avenue Imprpovementsis 1 2I 31 4 5 6 7 8 9' 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 • 27 •, 28 29 30 31 32 RESOLUTION NO. _ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR CERTAIN WORK ON CERTAIN PORTIONS'OF MARINE AVENUE, CER- TAIN PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY AND CERTAIN PORTIONS OF PARK AVENUE WITHIN SAID CITY. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach did in open session at a regular meeting thereof on the 17th day of December, 1928, publicly open, examine and declare all sealed pro- posals or bids for doing the following work, hereinafter described under Resolution of Intention No. 477 of the City of Newport Beach. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach do resolve as follows; SECTION I. That this Council hereby finds and declares that is the lowest regular, responsible bidder for the work hereinafter described, and this Council hereby awards the contract for said work to the said named in _ jeit- bid, to -wit; I� \ at the prices For reinforced concrete bridge and all appurtenances thereto belonging, together with cement concrete approach walls, cement concrete steps and landings, pipe hand rails, LaLux Manufacturing Company's cement concrete lighting posts and appliances, sheridized Iron lighting conduit, lead covered lighting cable, cement concrete sidewalks, cement concrete sheet piles with Schlueter Interlocking System, cement concrete pipe drains, grading and appurtenances thereto, the re- location of the existing water main, the re- location of existing lighting posts and appliances, the re- location of existing conduits and cable, the removal of the existing structure or bridge, the removal of certain cement con- crete pavement, (not including cement concrete piles and cement concrete pavement between approach walls) across the Grand Canal at Park Avenue, complete as per plans -SA6io For reinforced concrete bridge and all appurtenances thereto belonging, together with cement concrete approach walls, cement concrete stairs and land:iVgs, pipe hand rails, LaLux Manufacturing Company's lighting posts and appliances, sheridized iron lighting conduit, lead covered lighting cable, cement concrete curbs, cement concrete sidewalks, bituminous macadam wearing surface with gravel base, gravel shoulders, grading and appurtenances -1- thereto, the re- location of existing water main, and the removal of existing lighting posts and appliances and the removal of the existing structure or bridge, (not including cement concrete piles and cement concrete pavement between approach walls) across the channel at Marine Avenue, complete as per plans . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . �� O,.o For 6" cement concrete pavement, including grading, y— per square foot . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ... For Type "A" cement concrete pile, in place, per lineal foot . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . +�2 For Type "B" cement concrete pile, in place, per lineal foot . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ All other bids for said work are hereby rejected, and the City Clerk is hereby directed to return to the respective bidders all checks accompanying said rejected bids. The work hereinbefore referred to is described as follows; 1. The erection and construction of a reinforced concrete bridge and all appurtenances thereto belonging, together with cement concrete piles, cement concrete approach walls, cement concrete pavement between approach walls, cement concrete steps and landings, pipe hand rails, LaLux Manufacturing Company's cement concrete lighting posts and appliances, sheridized iron lighting conduit, lead covered lighting cable, cement concrete sidewalks, cement concrete sheet piles with Schleuter Interlocking System, cement con- crete pipe:drainq, grading and appurtenances thereto, the re- location of the existing water main, the re- location of existing lighting posts and appliances and the re- location of existing conduits and cable, the removal of the existing structure or bridge, the removal of certain cement concrete pavement, all of which work and improvement • • is appurtenant to the erection and construction of said reinforced concrete bridge, in, along and upon Park Avenue from a line which is 100 feet east of and parallel with the East line of Marine Avenue north of Park Avenue, across the Grand Canal to a line, which line is 110 feet west of and parallel to the Best line of Abalone Avenue. -2- 2. That the following described portions of Park Avenue • be graded, the existing curbs removed and existing light posts removed, the roadway thereof paved with six (6) inch cement concrete pavement, the width of said roadway to be paved varying from 10 feet to 12 feet. (a) Park Avenue from a line 110, feet west of and parallel to west line of Abalone Avenue to a line 10 feet west of and parallel to the west line of Abalone Avenue. (b) Park Avenue from the East line of Marine Avenue north of Park Avenue to a line 100 feet east of and parallel to said .east line of Marine Avenue. 3. The erection and construction of a reinforced concrete bridge and all appurtenances thereto belonging, together with cement concrete piles, cement concrete approach walls, cement concrete pave- ment between approach walls,.cement concrete steps and landings, pipe hand rails, LaLux Manufacturing Company's cement concrete lighting posts and appliances, sheridized iron lighting conduit, lead covered lighting cable, cement concrete curbs, cement concrete abutments, cement concrete sidewalks, bituminous macadam wearing surface with gravel base, gravel shoulders, grading aril appurtenances thereto, the re- location of existing water main and the removal of existing lighting posts and appliances and the removal of the existing structure or bridge, all of which said work and improvement is appurtenant ,to the erection and construction of said reinforced concrete bridge, in, along and upon Marine Avenue, between a line 500 feet north of and •parallel to the north line of Balboa Avenue and the east prolongation • of the north line of North Bay Front; in, along and upon the public right -of -way across certain tide lands, between the northerly prolongation of the west line of Marine Avenue and the northerly prolongation of the -3- -r , •'f east line of Marine Avenue, and between the easterly prolongation of • the North 'line of North Bay Front and the U..S. Government Bulkhead line, between Station 100 and Station 101, as shown on a map of the survey of Newport Bay, showing harbor lines approved by Assistant Secretary of War January 18, 1917; in, along and upon the public right -of -way, across certain tide lands, between a line parallel to and 30 feet east of the northerly prolongation of the center line of Marine Avenue and a line parallel to and 30 feet west of the north- erly prolongation of the center line of Marine Avenue, and between the aforedescribed bulkhead line and a line parallel to and 100 feet north of the aforedescribed bulkhead line, all is more particularly described in Resolution No. 477 as adopted by the City Council of said City on the 5th day of November, 1928, and on file in the office of the City Clerk of said city. For further particulars, reference is hereby made to said Resolution of Intention No.477 and to the plans, profiles, drawings and cross - sections on file in the office of the City Engineer of said city and according to the specifi- cations on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City, and all of said plans, profiles, drawings, cross - sections and specifications heretofore approved by said City Council or incorporated herein and made a part hereof, and reference is hereby made thereto for a more particular description of said work. SECTION II. The said City Council also determined and declared that serial bonds to represent unpaid assessments and bear interest at the rate of seven (7) per cent. per annum will be issued hereunder in the manner 4V rovided by the Improvement Bond Act of 1915. The last installment of • which bonds shall mature fourteen (14) years from the second day of July next succeeding ten (10) months from their date. For a particular ME description of said bonds, reference is hereby made to said Resolution • of Intention. • SECTION III. The said City Council also determined and declared that the contemplated work and improvement hereinbefore mentioned was in the opinion of the said City Council of more than local or ordinary public benefit, and the expenses of said work and improvement has been charge- able upon a district. For a particular description of said district, reference is hereby made to said Resolution of Intention. SECTION IV. The Clerk of this Council is hereby directed to publish a notice of this award twice in the "Newport News", a weekly newspaper, printed, published and circulated in s aid City and hereby designated for that purpose (there being no daily newspaper published in said City). this Passed by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach, of Y' STATE -03 0LIriFORNIA, ) COUNTY .OF.;.,ORANGE, ss.
