HomeMy WebLinkAbout987 - Balboa Island Improvements0 1 RESOLUTION NO. 987 2 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE OFFER OF THE UNITED STATES TO THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH TO AID BY 3 WAY OF GRANT IN FINANCING THE CONSTRUCTION OF BULKHEAD, SIDEVTALK, STREET LIGHTING EQUIPMENT 4 AND PIERS ON BALBOA ISLAND. 5 BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of 6 Newport Beach, 7 SECTION 1. That the offer of the United States of 8 America to the City of Newport Beach to aid by way of grant 9 in financing the construction of bulkhead, sidewalk, street 10 lighting equipment and piers on Balboa Island, a copy of 11 which offer reads as follows: 12 FEDERAL EMERGENCY ADMINISTRATION 13 OF PUBLIC WORKS 14 Washington, D. C., Dated: August 20, 1036. 15 Docket No. Calif. 1286 -R. 16 City of Newport Beach, 17 Newport Beach, California. 18 Subject to the Rules and Regulations (PWA Form No. 19 1790 as amended to date) which are made a part hereof, 20 the United States of America hereby offers to aid in 21 financing the construction of bulkhead, sidewalk, street 22 lighting equipment and piers (herein called the "Project ") 23 by making a grant to City of Newport Beach in the amount 24 of 45 percent of the cost of the Project upon completion, 25 as determined by the Federal Emergency Administrator of 26 Public Works, but not to exceed, in any event, the sum 27 of $1000035. 28 UNITED STATES OF AMERICA Federal Emergency Administrator 29 of Public Works By Horatio B. That said City Council agrees to abide by • 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29. c30 31^ _32_ all the rules and regulations relating to such grant a copy of which rules and regulations were annexed to the Government's offer and made a part thereof. SECTION 3. That said City Council agrees with the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works as follows: "It is hereby covenanted that work on the project described in the Offer will be commenced by October 1, 1936; that the work will be planned so that it will reach a substantial peak before January 1, 1937 and Y that the project will be completed by October 1, 1937." SECTION 4. That the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and directed forthwith to send to the Federal Mner- gency Administration of Public Works three certified copies of this Resolution and three certified copies of the proceed- ings of this Special Meeting in connection with the adoption of this Resolution, and such further documents or proofs in connection with the acceptance of said offer as may be re- quested by the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works.
