WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Orange County,

in cooperation with the United States Beach Erosion Board,
5
proposes to make a survey and study of beach erosion in the
6
vicinity of Newport Beach; and
7
WHEREAS, the City Engineer of the City of Newport
8
Beach has recommended to the City Council the necessity
9
and advisability of such a survey and study of beach erosion
10
and the effects of erosion on the beach after the depositing
11
of dredged materials along the Ocean Front in the City of
12
Newport Beach; and
13
WHEREAS, the estimated cost of surveys and studies
14
of beach erosion proposed to be made, is the sum of $5,160.00,
15
of which amount $2,580.00 is to be contributed by local
16
interests and $2,580.00 will be advanced by the United States
17
of America; and
18
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport
19
Beach deems,for the best interest of said City and the in-
20
habitants thereof, that said survey and study be made; and
21
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach has funds avail -
22
able for the purpose of contributing towards the cost of the
23
study and survey of beach erosion and the effect of erosion
24
on the beach after the depositing of dredged materials thereon,
25
provided that one -half of the costs thereof be contributed
26
by the United States of America, and the remainder by the
27
County of Orange;
28
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the sum of
29
$750.00 be and the same is hereby appropriated for the pur-
30
pose of contributing towards the cost of making a study of
31
beach erosion and the effect of the erosion on the beach after
32
the depositing of dredged materials thereon in the City of

Newport Beach in Orange County, California, in cooperation
with the County of Orange the the United States Beach Erosion
Board, and the City Treasurer of the City of Newport Beach
is directed, instructed, and authorized to transfer the said
sum of $750.00 from the unbudgeted funds of the said City
of Newport Beach to Budget Account No. 498 .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said sum of $750.00
so appropriated as aforesaid and budgeted as aforesaid, shall
be used exclusively for the purpose of making a study and
survey of beach erosion and the effect of erosion on the
beach after the depositing of dredged materials thereon, in
cooperation with the County of Orange and the United States
Beach Erosion Board.
I hereby certify that the above and foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly passed and adopted by the City
Council of the City of Newport Beach at a regular meeting
thereof held on the 5th day of April, 1937, by the following
vote, to -wit:
