RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA, E %TENDING THE TIME FOR COMPLETION OF CONTRACT IN THE MATTER OF THE BULKHEAD AND OTHER IMPROVEMENTS IN AND AROUND BALBOA ISLAND. WHEREAS: Pursuant to proceedings heretofore taken by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach under the pro- visions of the Improvement Act of 1911, the Superintendent of Streets of said City did enter into a contract on the 20th day of October, 1936, for the construction of cement concrete bulk- head and other work and improvement in South Bay Front and certain other streets in Balboa Island, as per Resolution of Intention No. 918, and that said contract among other things provided that the work and improvement described therein should be completed within 240 calendar days from the date of approval of the said executed contract by the State Director, P.W.A., which time expired on the 19th day of June, 1937; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach by Resolution No. 1145 passed and adopted on the 7th day of June, 1937, granted to the Griffith Company, Contractor, an extension of sixty (60) days time for the completion of all re- quirements of the contract and of the law of the State of Calif- ornia applicable thereto, and the Superintendent of Streets was authorized and directed to extend the time for completion of the contract by sixty (60) days, which time will expire on the 18th day of August, 1937. WHEREAS: The City Engineer has reported that all physical construction Mork in connection with the said contract is fully completed, and that under the provisions of said Improvement Act of 1911 it would require an additional sixty (60) days extension of time of the contract to cover the necess- ary time in securing final aid from the Federal Government 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 T: 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 y together with the time required for the preparation, notice and hearing on the assessment. NOVI, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: By the City Council of the City of Newport Beach as follows: That the Contractor, Griffith Company, a corporation, be and it is hereby granted an extension of sixty (60) days time commencing August 18, 1937, for the completion of all requirements of the contract and of the law of the State of California applicable thereto, and that the Superintendent of Streets be and he is hereby author- ized and directed to extend the time for completion of con- tract in accordance herewith.
