RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, there has this day been presented to the
City Council of the city of Newport Beach a certain lease dated
February 17th, 1941, by and between the City of Newport Beach,
a municipal corporation, as party of the first part, and the
South Coast Company, a corporation, as party of the second part;
and
WHEREAS, said lease provides that the party of the
first part leases to the party of the second pax°t certain
tidelands and uplands abutting thereon, located in the city of
Newport Beach, Orange County, California, for industrial purposes,
it being the understanding and agreement between said parties that
said lands are to be used only for the purpose of doing work
for the United States Government or any department of the Federal
Government, or any country or countries friendly to the U. S.
Government, in the construction, repair, etc., of boats, vessels,
war craft, war vessels, auxiliary war craft and or the manufacture
of parts thereof, all as in said agreement of lease specified,
for the term of three (3) years from and after the date of the
execution of said lease, for the rental and upon the terms and
conditions as in said lease specifically set forth; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the city of Newport Beach
deems that it is for the best .interests ofsaid city and the
inhabitants thereof that said lease be entered into with the said
party of the second part upon the terms, conditions and for the
rental therein specified.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Mayor and
City Clerk of the city of Newport Beach be, and they are hereby
instructed, directed and authorized to execute said lease in the
name of and on behalf of the city of Newport Beach, and that the
City Clerk deliver a duly executed copy thereof to the party of
the second part therein named.
