WHEREAS, large areas of land between Huntington Beach
and Newport Beach are covered with flood waters caused by recent
unprecedented storms; and
WHEREAS, said lands will remain inundated for many
months unless said lands are drained; and
WHEREAS, lands so flooded and inundated are privately
owned and the expense of draining the same will be too great for
land owners to bear; and
WHEREAS, the waters over said lands are becoming
stagnant and are a breeding place of mosquitoes and therefore
a menace to the health of the citizens and residents of the city
of Newport Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Orange appropriate such moneys as
are available for the purpose of assisting said land owners in
draining said lands, in order that the health of the residents
in the vicinity of said lands be safeguarded.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That a copy of this
resolution be presented to the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Orange at their next regular meeting, and that representation
be made to said Board for relief from the conditions herein
mentioned.
I hereby certify that the above and foregoing
resolution was duly and regularly passed and adopted by the
City Council of the city of Newport Beach at a regular meeting
thereof held on the 7th day of April 19 �, by the following vote:
