HomeMy WebLinkAbout2605 - General Municipal Election Results - 4-14-19427 11 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 28 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 All, � RESOLUTION N0, DECLARING RESULT OF ELECTION WHEREAS, a general municipal election was held and conducted in the city of Newport Beach, Orange County, California, on Tuesday, the 14th day of April., 1942, as required by law; and WHEREAS, it appears that notice of said election was duly and regularly given; that voting precincts were properly established; that election officers were appointed and election supplies furnished and that in all respects said election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat received and canvassed and the returns thereof made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the lawsof the State of California, governin elections in cities of the sixth class; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach met at the Council Chambers of the City Council on Tuesday, the 21st day of April, 1942, at the hour of 7:30 o'clock P. M. of said day, to canvass the returns of said election and install the newly elected officers as a result of which the City Council of said City finds and determines that the number of votes cast, the names of the persons voted for, the proposition voted upon, end othepfnatters required by law to be as hereinafter stated. That the following proposition was voted on at said municipal election herein mentioned, to -wit: PROPOSITION Shall the City Council of the City of Newport Beach pass that certain ordinance hereafter described, without alteration, which ordinance has heretofore been presented to the City Council by initiative petition, and provides in substance for the creation and establishment of Civil Service for all officers and members of the Fire Department and the Police Department of the City of Newport Beach, except the chiefs of said departments, and is entitled: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH CREATING A CIVIL SERVICE BOARD, PROVIDING FOR THE MANNER AND METHOD OF APPOINTMENT, PROVIDING FOR THE PLACING OF MEMBERS OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE FIRE DE- PARTMENT UNDER CIVIL SERVICE. Hall was elected to the office of City Councilman of the city of Newport Beach for the full term of four years. That Lester L. Isbell was elected to the office of City Council of the City of Newport Beach for the full term of four years. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a majority of the voters voting on the proposition heretofore mentioned, voted in its favor; that thereupon said ordinance mentioned in said proposition became a valid and binding ordinance of the City of Newport Beach; that said ordinance mentioned in said proposition is hereby declared as having been adopted as of this date and shall go into effect In accordance with the terms of said ordinance and the provisions of the law in such cases made and provided.
