HomeMy WebLinkAbout2660 - Property Tax Levys _AdikL is 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH, FIXING THE RATE PER CENTUM 4 AND LEVYING A TAX UPON ALL OF THE TAXABLE 5 PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH WHICH IS TAXABLE THEREIN FOR MUNICIPAL PURPOSES. 6 7 8 9 The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does resolve 10 and declare as follows: 11 let. Resolved, that there be and is hereby levied upon 12 all of the taxable property within the city of Newport Beach which 13 is taxable therein for municipal purposes, a tax for the purpose of 14 raising the necessary money with which to carry on the various de- 15 partments of the City of Newwport Beach for the current fiscal year. 16 2nd. Resolved, that the rate per centum of the tax 17 hereinafter levied shall be and is hereby fixed as the sum of 18 One Dollar six cents ($1.06) on each one hundred dollars of value 29 1 designated for each fund as follows: 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 For current expense fund..One Dollar (01.00) For the library fund....:.Six cents ( .06) Total tax levy, One Dollar six cents (11,06) 3rd. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein levied for municipal purposes, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property within the City of Newport Beach a tax for the purpose of raising the necessary and sufficient money to Fay the annual interest on all issued, outstanding and unpaid municipal bonds of the City of Newport Beach, and also such part of the principal thereof as shall become due before the time for fixing the next general tax levy in and for said City, the rate hereby levied for said purposes is fixed at eleven cents (11¢) LAW OFFICES OF ROLAND THOMPSON 1• 210 SFURGEON SLOG. SANTA ANA CALIF. 1 on each one hundred dollars($100) of value, and the same shell be 2 collected at the same time and in the same manner as all other 3 municipal taxes are collected, excepting upon property annexed 4 at an election held the 11th day of February, 1924, and known as 5 Corona Del Mar, provided, that the said taxes herein levied shall 6 be exclusive'of any tax levied for the payment of interest and 7 principal of $190,000.00 bonds of the City of Newport Beach issued 8 and sold for the completion of the municipal water system thereof, 9 and $285,000.00 bonds for the City of Newport Beach issued and 10 sold for the construction and improvement of jetties in the City 11 of Newport Beach and known as the Jetty Bonds of 1927, and $80,000.0 12 bonds of the City of Newport Beach, for the acquisition, construc- 13 tion and completion by the City of Newport Beach, cf a certain 14 municipal improvement, to -wit, the improvement of the municipal 15 harbor by deepening and dredging the ehannel, and by the acquisition 16 and construction of various groins for the purpose of controlling 17 the tide and protecting the existing jetties and shore lands, and 28 including for said purpose the acquisition of lands and rightsbf 29 way, which said bonds are known and designated as Newport Beach 20 Improvement Harbor /Bonds of 1929, and bonds in the amount of $150,000.00 for the 21 acquisition and construction of a municipal improvement, to -wit, 22 additions to the municipal sewer system including the acquisition 23 of lands and rights of way, and the acquisition and construction of 24 a main sewer line and discharge sewer lines, a sewage disposal 25 plant, sewage works, pumping plants and buildings and equipment 26 necessary or convenient for said project, which said sewer bonds 27 are known and designated as NewportBeach Municipal Sewer Bonds of 28 1936, and bonds in the amount of $118,000.00 of the City of Newport 29 Beach, for the acquisition and construction and reconstruction of 30 31 two (2) public piers, including the reconstruction and extension 32 of the existing piers k%to the waters of the Pacific Ocean, including LAW OFFICES OF II ROLAND THOMPSON 210 SPURGEON BLDG. SANTA ANA CALIF. 1 buildings and structures necessary or convenient for said project, 2 which said bonds are known and designated as Pier Bonds, 1940, 3 4th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein 4 levied for municipal purposes,there is hereby levied on all of the 5 taxable property within the city of Newport Beach a tax for the 6 purpose of raising the necessary and sufficient money to pay the 7 annual interest on $190,000.00 bonds of the City of Newport Beach, 8 issued and sold for the completion of the municipal water system 9 thereof, issued, outstanding and unpaid of the city of Newport 10 Beach, and also such part of the principal thereof as shall become 11 due before the time for fixing the next general tax levy in and 12 for said City, and for the further purpose of paying the annual 13 interest on $285,000.00 bonds of the city of Newport Beach, issued 14 and sold for the erection and construction of jetties and the 15 improvement of said jetties, issued, outstanding and unpaid of the 16 City of Newport Beach, and known as the Jetty Bonds of 1927, 27 and also such part of the principal thereof as shall become due be- 18 fore the time of fixing the next general tax levy in and for said 29 city, and for the further purpose of paying the annual interest 20 of $80,000.00 bonds of the City of Newport Beach, issued and sold 21 for the improvement of the harbor of the City of Newport Beach, and 22 the construction of various groins for the purpose of controlling 23 the tide and protecting the existing jetties and shore lands, 24 issued, outstanding and unpaid of the city of Newport Beach, and 25 known as the Newport Beacn Harbor Improvement Bonds of 1929, and 26 also such part of the principal thereof, as shall become due before 27 the time of fixing the next general tax levy in and for said city, 28 and also a tax for the purpose of raising the necessary and 29 sufficient money to pay the annual interest on $1503000,00 bonds 30 of the City of Newport Beach, issued and sold for the acquisition 31 32 and construction of a municipal improvement, to -wit, additions to LAW OFFICES OF II ej ROLAND THOMPSON . 210 SPURGEON BLDG. Y I z � 1 the municipal sewer system including the acquisition of lands and 2 rights of way, and the acquisition and construction of a main sews 3 line and dis'harge sewer lines, a sewage disposal plant, sewage 4 works, pumping plants and buildings and equipment necessary or 5 convenient for said project, which said sewer bonds are known and 6 designated as Newport Beach Municipal Sewer bonds of 1936, issued, 7 outstanding and unpaid of the city of Newport Beach, and also such 8 part of the principal thereof as shall become due before the time 9 of fixing the next general tax levy in and for said city, and also 10 a tax for the purpose of raising the necessary and sufficient money 11 to pay the annual interest on $118,000.00 bonds of the City of 12 Newport Beacn, issued and sold for the acquisition and construction 13 of a municipal improvement, to -wit: The acquisition, construction 14 and reconstruction of two (2) public piers, including the re- 15 construction and extension of the existing piers into the waters 16 of the Pacific Ocean, including buildings and structures necessary 17 or convenient for said project, which said pier bonds are known and 18 designated as Pier Bonds, 1940, issued, outstanding and unpaid 29 of the city of Newport Beach, and also such part of the principal 20 thereof as shall become due before the time of fixing the next 21 general tax levy in and for said city. 22 The rate of tax hereby levied for the purpose of paying 23 the interest and principal of said water bonds, and said jetty 24 bonds, and said Newport Beacn Harbor Improvement Bonds of 1929, 25 and Newport Beach Municipal Sewer Bonds of 1936, and Pier Bonds) 26 1940, as aforesaid, is hereby fixed at sixty cents (60¢) on each 27 one hundred dollars ($100) of value. 28 5th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes 29 30 31 32 herein levied there is hereby levied on all the taxable property within the City of NewportBeacn a tax of eight cents (8¢) on each one hundred dollars ($100) for advertising purposes, pursuant to LAW OFFICES OF I A ROLAND THOMPSON 210 SFURGEON BLDG. SANTA ANA CALIF. 28 Municipal Improvement District No. 3 of the city of Newport Beach, 29 a tax of twenty -two cents (22¢) on each one hundred dollars ($100) 30 of assessed valuation, for the payment of semi - annual interest on 31 and the redemption of the bonds of said district. 32 LAW OFFICES OF 5. SANTA ANA CALIF. 1 the provisions of Ordinance No. 144 submitted to and carried by a 2 majority of the votes of all the voters voting at an election held 3 for the purpose of voting for or against said Ordinance on the 4 24th day of September, 1916. 5 6th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes 6 herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property 7 within the city f Newport wport Beach a tax of three cents (3¢) on each 8 one hundred dollars ($100) of assessed valuation, for park purposes 9 pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance No. 380 of the city of 10 Newport Beach, submitted to and carried by a majority of the votes 11 of all voters voting at an election held for the purpose of voting 12 for or against said ordinance on May 28, 1930. 13 7th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein 14 evied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property within 15 Municipal Improvement District No. 1 of the City of Newport Beach, a 16 tax of one cent (1¢) on each one hundred dollars ($100) of assessed 27 valuation for the payment of semi- annual interest on and the 18 29 redemption of the bonds of said district. 20 8t. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein 21 levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property within 22 Municipal Improvement District No. 2 of the City of Newport Beach, 23 a tax of eleven cents (11¢) on each one hundred dollars ($100) of 24 assessed valuation for the payment of semi - annual interest on and 25 the redemption of the bonds of said district. 26 9th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein 27 levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property within 28 Municipal Improvement District No. 3 of the city of Newport Beach, 29 a tax of twenty -two cents (22¢) on each one hundred dollars ($100) 30 of assessed valuation, for the payment of semi - annual interest on 31 and the redemption of the bonds of said district. 32 LAW OFFICES OF 5. LJ ft z 1 10th, Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein 2 levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property 3 within Municipal Improvement District No. 4 of the City of Newport, 4 Beach, a tax of Five cents (5¢) on each one hundred dollars 5 ($100) of assessed valuation for the payment of semi-annual 6 interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said district. 7 11th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes 8 herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable 9 property within Municipal Improvement District No. 7 of the city 10 of Newport Beach, a tax of twenty cents (200) on each one hundred 11 dollars ($100) of the assessed valuation for the payment of semi- 12 annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said distric 13 12th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein 14 levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable lands 15 within the assessment district created by Resolution of Intention 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 No. 622 of the city of Newport Beach, in the matter of Acquisition and Improvement District No. 1 of the City of Newport Beach, a levy of special assessment taxes of Two Dollars eighty cents ($2.80) on each $100.00 of the total assessed value of said lands within said district, exclusive of the improvements thereon, for the purpose of creating a special fund for the payment of princip; and interest on bonds issued in accordance with law, and the said Resolution of Intention No. 622 of the City of Newport Beach, In the matter of Acquisition and Improvement District No. 1 of the City of Newport Beach.
