WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach did heretofore confirm the appointment of Robert Elliott and Virgil Phebus as patrolmen of the City of Newport Beach at a salary of $125.00 per month; and WHEREAS, the basic pay for patrolmen of the city of Newport Beach has heretofore been set by the City Council of the city of Newport Beach at $125.00 per month; and WHEREAS, it is impossible to get patrolmen or policemen at said basic rate of $125,00 per month, or to keep those already in the employ of the city at such pay, NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED= That the City Council .of the City of Newport Beach does hereby amend the salary resolution of the city of Newport Beach so as to provide that Robert Elliott and Virgil Phebus shall receive a salary of $140.00 per month, commencing as of the lot day of November, 1942, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED; That the basic rate of pay for patrolmen and policeman of the city of Newport Beach from and after the date hereof, shall be $140.00 per month, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED; That the salary resolution heretofore adopted by the City Council of the city of Newport Beach be and the same is hereby amended as herein specified, and that in all other respects said salary resolution be,and remain in full force and effect as amended by this resolution.
