WHEREAS, Resolution N0.2821 of the Oity Oouncil of the
4
Oity of Newport Beach was duly and regularly passed and adopted,
5
fixing the salaries of all appointive officials and employees of
6
the city of Newport Beach; and
7
WHEREAS, on account of the limited number of employees
8
working in the various departments of the city of Newport Beach,
9
and the inability to obtain competent employees, it has become
10
necessary in many instances for certain employees of said city
11
to work overtime; and
12
WHEREAS, said Resolution No,2821 of said Oity does not
13
provide for overtime or emergency compensation; and
14
WHEREAS, it is the desire and wish of the Oity 0ouncil
15
of the city of Newport Beach that said Resolution No.2821 aforesai
16
be amended s0 as to provide for overtime or emergency compensation
17
for certain employees of the city of Newport Beach.

NOWs THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That said Resolution
19
No.2821 of the city of Newport Beach be, and the same is hereby
20
amended by adding a new paragraph thereto, to read as follows,
21
t0 -wit:

"BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that all employees in the
23
Street Department, Engineering Department, Sewer Department and
24
Water Department of the city of Newport Beach, be allowed as
25
extra compensation and in addition to the salaries heretofore
26
specifically specified, time and one -half for all overtime or
27
emergency work performed by them at the request of the Department
28
head of said department or departments.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this schedule shall go
30
into effect as of August 9, 1943, and shall be paid at the time
31
and in the manner specified in said Resolution No.2821 aforesaid.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said time and one -half
2
for overtime or emergency work shall be computed on an hourly
3
basis, and shall be in addition to the salaries herein specified
4
for the various employees of the departments herein mentioned.
5
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer,
6
Superintendent of Streets, water and sewer, shall not receive
7
additional compensation for overtime or emergency work.
