RESOLUTION NO.4 2y
WHEREAS,there has this day been presented to the'City
Council of the City of Newport Beach, a certain Indenture of
Lease dated the 20th day of March, 1944, wherein the City of New-
port Beach is therein designated, "City" and South Coast Company,
a corporation is therein designated, "Company, and
WHEREAS, in the opinion and Judgment of the City
Council of the City of Newport Beach, the consideration offered
for the execution of said lease is Just, fair and adequate, and
WHEREAS further in the Judgment of said City Council,
it is for the best interests of the said city and inhabitants
thereof that said lease be granted upon the terms, conditions
and covenants thereof, and
WHEREAS, it is further the Judgment of the City Council
that the leasing of the lands described in said lease upon the
terms and conditions of said agreement of lease specified, is not
inconsistent with the trust imposed upon said lands, or inconsis-
tent with or opposed to the law, and
WHEREAS, said lease will aid in the proper prosecution
of the war as such lands are to be used by the Company for the pur-
pose of doing work for the United States Government, its depart.
ments and allies in the assembling, construction, reconstruction,
conditioning and reconditioning and repair of boats, vessels, war
craft, war vessels, auxiliary war craft and other vessels necessary
or useful to the national defense,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Mayor and
City Clerk of the City of Newport Beach be authorized, directed
and instructed to execute said lease, in duplicate, on behalf of
the City of Newport Beach.
I. HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly
and regularly passed by the City Council of the City of Newport
