The City Council of the City of Newport Beach Use resolve and declare as follows! FIRST: Resolved, that there be and is hereby levied upon all of the taxable Property within the City of Newport Beach which in taxable therein for municipal purposes, a tax for the purpose of raising the necessary money with which to carry on the various departments of the City of Newport Beach for the current fiscal year 1948 -49. SECOND: Resolved, that the rate per centum of the tax hereinafter levied. shall beand is hereby fixed as the sum of Vighty -nine Cents ($.89) on each one hundred dollars of value designated for each fund as follows: For current expense funds For the Library fund: Total Tax Levy: Y, hty -five cents (';.8$) P our cents (s;.04) Nighty -nin cents ($.89) THIRD: Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein levied for municipal purposes, there Is hereby levied on all of the taxable property within the City of N ^wport Beach, a tax for the purpose of raising the necessary and sufficient money to pay the annual interest on all issued, outstanding, and unpaid municipal bonds of the City of Newport Beach, and also such part of the principal thereof as shall become due before the time for fixing the next general tax levy in and for said City, the rate hereby levied for said purposes is fixed nt Two cents (20) on each One Hundred Dollars ($"100) of value, and the same shall be collected at the same time and in the same manner an all other municipal tares are collected, excepting upon property annexed on and after the 11th day of February, 1924, provided, that the said taxes herein levied shall be exclusive of any tax levied for the payment of interest and Principal of 1';130,000 bonds of the City of Newport Beach issued and sold for the completion of the municipal water system thereof, - 1 - 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9; 10' 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 and $195,000 bonds for the City of Newport Beach issued and sold for the construction and improvement of jetties in the City of Newport Beach and born as the Jetty Bonds of 19274, and $20,000 bonds of the City of Newport Beach for the acquisition, construction, and completion by the City of Newport of a certain municipal improvement, to -wit, the improvement of the municipal harbor by deepening and dredging the channel, and by the acquisition and con- struction of various groins for the purpose of ct +ntrolling the tide and protecting the existing jetties and shore lands, and including for said purpose the acquisition of lands and rights of way, which said bonds are known and designated as Newport Beach Harbor Improvement Bonds of 1929; and bonds ih the amount of $90,000 for the acquisition and construction of a municipal bsprobement, to -wit, additions to the municipal sewer system in- cluding the acquisition of lands and rights of way, and the a®quisition sad construction of a main sewer line and discharge sewer lines, a sewage dis- posal plant, sewers works, pumping plants and buildings and equipment necessary or convenient for said project, which said sewer bonds are known and desig- nated as Newport Beach Municipal Sewer Bonds of 19354, and ponds in the amount of $82,000 of the City of Newport Beach, for the acquisition and construction and reconstruction of tvo (2) public piers, including the reconstruction and extension of the existing piers into the waters of the Pacific Ocean, in- cluding buildings and structures necessary or convenient for said project, which said bonds are designated and known as Fier Bonds, 1940. FOURTH: Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein levied for municipal purposes, there is horbby levied on all of the taxable property within the City of Newport Beach, excepting upon property annexed on and after November 1, 1943, a tax for the purpose of raising the necessary and s-officient money to pay the annual interest on $130,000 bonds of the City ^f Newport Beach, issued and sold for the completion of the municipal -water system thereof, issued, outstanding and unpaid for the City of Newport Beach, and also such part of the principal thereof as shall become due before the time of fixing sad the next general tax levy in and for said C#yt and for the further ;:urpose of paying the annual interest of $195,000 bonda."of - 2 - y� �y the City of Newport Beaoh, issued and sold for the ereotion and oonstruotion 1 of jetties and the iWrovement of said jetties, issued, outstanding and unpaid 2 of the City of Ne,-n :ort Beaoh, and known as the Jetty Bonds of 1927, and also 3 suoh part of the prinoipal thereof as shall beoome due before the time of 4 fix the next general tax levy in and for said oity; and for the further'purpose 5 of paying the annual interest of $20,000 bonds of the City of Newport Beaoh. 6 issued and sold for the improvement of the harbor of the City of Newport Beaoh. 7 and the oonstruotion of various groins for the purpose of oontrolling the 8 tide and proteoting the existing jetties and shore lands, issued, outstanding 9 and unpaid of the City of Newport Beaoh, and known as the Newport Beaoh Harbor 10 Improvement Bonds of 1929, and also such part of the prinoipal thereof, as 11 shall beoome due before the time of fixing the next general tax levy in and 12 for said oityi and also a tax for the purpose of raising the neoessary and 13 suffiolent money to pay the annual interest on $90,000 bonds of the City of 14 Newport Beach, issued and sold for the aoquisition and oonstruction of a 15 munioipal improvement, to -wit, additions to the munioipal sever system in- 16 oluding the aoquisition of lands And rights -of -way, and the acquisition and 17 oonstruction of a main sewer line:. and disoharge lines, a sewer disposal plans. 18 sewage works, pumping plants and building and equipment neoessary or convenient 19 for said projeot, which said sewer bonds are known and designated as Newport 20 Beach Munioipal Sewer Bonds of 1936, issued, outstanding and unpaid of the 21 City of Newport Beaoh, and also such part of the principal thereof as shall 22 beoome due before the time of fixing the next general tax levy in and for 23 said oity; and also a tax for the purpose of raising the neoessary and 24 suffioient money to pay the annual interest on $82,000 bonds of the City of 25 Newport Beaoh, issued and sold for the aoquisition and construction of a 26 munioipal improvement, to -wit, the aoquisition, oonstruotion and rsoonstruotion 27 of two (2) publio piers, inoluding the reoonstruotion and extension of the 28 existing piers into the waters of the Pacifio Ocean, inoluding buildings and 29 etruotures necessary or convenient for said projeot, whioh said pier bonds 30 are known and designated. as Pier Bonds, 19400 issued, outstanding and unpaid 31 of the City of Newport Beaoh, and also such part of the prinoipal thereof as 32 —3• J u� shall become due before the time of fixing the next general tax levy in and for 1 said city. 2 The rate of tax hereby levied for the purpose of paying the in- 3 terest and principal of said water bonds, and said jetty bonds, and said 4 Newport Beach Harbor Im;rovement Bands of 19299 and Tee.port Belch Municipal 5 Sewer Bonds of 1935. and Pier Honda, 19110, as aif`oresaid, is hereby fixed at 6 twenty -throo cents (23;:) on each One Hundred Dollars (U00) of value. 7 FIFT:it Resolved. that in a4lition to all other taxes herein levied 8 there is hereby levied on all the taxable property within the City of Newport 9 Beach, a tax of eight cents (8¢) on each One Hundred Dollars.($100) for 10 advertising purposes, pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance No. 144 submitted 11 to and carried by a majority of the voter of all the voters voting at an 12 election held for the purpose of voting for or against said ordinance on the 13 211th day of September, 1918. . 14 SIXrHa Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein levied. 15 there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property within the City of Newport 16 Beach a tax of three cents (30) on each One Hundred Dollars ($100) of assessed 17 valuations for park purposes. pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance No. 380 18 of the City of Newport T'eaeh, submitted to and carried by a majority of the 19 votes of all voters voting at an election held for the purpose of voting for or 20 against sr.id ordinance on ?aav 28, 1938. 21 STMIMTRS 'Resolved, that in P&'O tion to all other taxes herein 22 levied, there is hereby leviei on all of the taxable property within Municipal 23 Improvement District No, 2 of the City of Pewport Beach, a tax of five cents 24 (50) on each one hundred dnllars ( ?100) of assessed valuation for the payment 25 of semi- annual interest an and the redemption of the bonds of said district. 26 YIO11TH1 Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein levied, 27 , there in hereby levied an all of the taxable property within Municipal Improve - 28 ment -nietrict No. 3 of the City of Newport Beach* a tax of eleven cents (11¢) 29 on ;Mach one Hundred Dollars (4100) of asnease4 valuation, for the pa;,ment of 30 semi - annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said district, 31 32 4 - 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 101 NINTHS Resolved. that in addition to all other taxes herein levied. there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property within the City of Newport Beach a tax of twelve cents (120) on each One. Hundred Dollars ($100), said amount being; sufficient to raise the amount estimated by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach as beinr, sufficient to raise the amount estimated by the City Council to be required to provide sufficient revenue to meet the obligation of the City to the Retirement S;s tem under Section 58 -0 of the "State Employees Retirement Act ". Statutes of 1931.pags 1442, and amend- ments thereto, as well as sufficient under sub - section 5 of Section 38-0 of the same Act@ and said rate of taxation is in addition to the annual rate of taxa- tion allowed by law to be levied in the City of Newport Beach. The above and foregoing Resolution was passed, adopted, and approved by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach, at a regular meeting thereof held on the 13th day of September, 1948, by the following vote, to -wits AYES. /COLINCILMILN: e NOFS.
