HomeMy WebLinkAbout4179 - Business Garbage & Trash Fee1 • 2 3 • 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 • 28 .. 29 30 31 32 I b I RESOLUTION NO. 4179 ESTABLISHING GARBAGE & TRASH FEE FOR WHEREAS, there are certain business houses in the City of Newport Beach which are desirous of having more garbage and trash pickup service than has recently been furnished by the City; and WHEREAS, the City is unable to furnish such extra service to said business houses on the same basis as previously carried on; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that commencing on the first day of December, 1953, all business houses and residents in the City of Newport Beach requiring more garbage and trash pickup ser- vice than the domestic level now being rendered free of special charge, shall pay a monthly charge for such service, as follows: Said charge shall be based on a survey of individual re- quirements for such service made during the week of September 22nd through the 28th, 1953, by the Street Superintendent and shall be at the rate of 154� per unit per pickup of trash; and 254� per unit per pickup of garbage. A unit of trash shall consist of eight (8) cubic feet (sixty (60) gallons), or any franction thereof. A unit of garbage shall consist of ten (10) gallons, or any fraction of. A further survey shall be made during each July and October hereafter, in order to establish the number of units on which the monthly charge shall be based. More frequent surveys shall be made upon the request of any user'of the service, or at the dis- cretion of the Street Superintendent. This additional service shall also be made available to any business house or any other user not receiving such additional service as of the date of this Resolution, upon request in writing to the Street Superintendent. Any person preferring to dispose of his own trash and gar- bage may be relieved of the charge for ensuing months, after hav given notice in writing to the Street Superintendent of his inten- tions so to do, prior to the first of said month. -1- • 1 2 3 4 51' 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 b� The minimum monthly charge for such extra trash pickup service shall be the sum of $3.00, and for such extra garbage pickup service shall be the sum of $5.00. For the purposes of the more efficient operation of the Department, there shall only be two levels of service: The domestic level, which shall consist of one trash and two garbage pickups per week; and the special or extra service, which shall consist of five (5) pickups of trash and five (5) pickups of garbage per week. This charge shall be for the period commencing December 1st, 1953, The first billing therefor shall be during the month of January 1954, and monthly thereafter. The above and foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach, at a regular meeting thereof, held on the 23rd day of November, 1953, by the following vote, to wit: AYES, COUNCILMEN: Smith, Finch, Isbell, Bennett, Miller NOES, COUNCILMEN: None ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: None ATTEST: /s/ C.
