RESOLUTION NO, &Z-�
DECLARING RESULT OF EL3"MON
WHEREAS, a special municipal election was held and con-
ducted in the City of Newport Beach, County of Orange, State of
California, on Tuesday, the 6th day of December, 1955, as
required by lawy and
WHEREAS, It appears that notice Of said election was
duly and regularly given= that voting precincts were properly
established, that election officers were appointed and election
supplies furnished and that in all respects said election was
held and conducted and votes cast thereat received and canvassed
and the returns thereof made and declared in time, form and manner
as required by the laws and the Constitution of the State of
Californiaj and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
met at the Council Chambers of the City Council on the Z =day

of said day to oanvassr the returns of said election, as a result
of which the City Council of said City finds and determines that
the number of votes cast and other matters required 14PAW to be

NOW, TNNNEFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that said special
municipal election :use hold and conducted in the City of Newport
Beach on Tuesday, the 6th day of December, 1955, in time, form
and manner as required by law that there were seventeen (17)
voting precincts established for the purpose of holding said
election, consisting of either regular election precincts establ
for holding state or county elections or a consolidation of some
of or all of such precincts, as follows, to wit:

That the measure voted upon, the number of votes given
I in each voting precinct for and against said measure, and the
number of votes given in the City for and against said measure
are as follows:
PROPOSED CHARTER At4ENVWM: Shall the proposed Charter
Amendment amending the first paragraph of Section 400
of the Charter of the City of Newport Beach, to read
as follows:
"Section 400. Elective Officers. The elective officers
of the City shall consist of a City Council of seven
members. Candidates for City Council shall be nominated
from and by the electors of each of the seven districts
referred to in Article X of this Charter, and one shall
be elected from each of such districts by the voters
of the district nominating such candidates at the times
and in the manner provided in this Charter. They shall
serve for a term of four years and until their respectivei
successors are elected and qualified,"
