RESOLUTION NO. 4479
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH MAKING RECOMMENDATIONS AS TO THE
MASTER PLAN OF HIGHWAYS AS RELATED TO THE NEWPORT
HARBOR AREA.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
has studied the master plan of highways recommended by the
County Planning Commission as it relates to the Newport Harbor
Area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach that said City makes the following
recommendations:
1. That the Tustin Avenue Freeway should be completed
from the Santa Ana Canyon Freeway at Olive to MacArthur
Boulevard and Highway 101 - Alternate at Corona del Mar, the route
to be on Newport Boulevard to the Bristol Street - Palisades Road
intersection and then swing on Palisades Road to MacArthur
Boulevard and continue to the intersection with Highway 101 -
Alternate.
2. That Newport Boulevard be continued from the Bristol
Street - Palisades Road intersection as a six -lane divided high-
way with service roads on each side and tie in with the present
construction at about 19th Street in Costa Mesa.
3. The City of Newport Beach further recommends the
approval of the master plan of highways as prepared by the
County Planning Commission, except as amended by the two afore
recommendations.
The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regularly
passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Newport
at a regular meeting thereof held on the 9th day of April, 1956,
by the following vote, to wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: Bennett, Wilder, Stoddar
Higbie, Ridderhof, Hill
NOES, COUNCILMEN: None.
ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: MacKay
