A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO ANNEX

TO THE CITY CERTAIN PROPERTY KNOWN AS CAMEO
•
HIGHLANDS ANNEX.AND GIVING.NOTICE THEREOF

WHEREAS, there is situated outside and contiguous to the
6
City of Newport Beach a certain uninhabited territory within the
7
meaning of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939,
8
said territory being more particularly hereinafter described; and
9
WHEREAS, annexation to the City would make municipal ser-
10
vices available to the property owners and be for the best inter -
11
ests of the City of Newport Beach and its citizens; and
12
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach as proponent did on
13
or about the 20th day of July, 1959, submit to the Secretary of the
14
Orange County Boundary Commission a legal description and plat of
15
the hereinafter described uninhabited territory for its report
16
pursuant to the provisions of Section 35002 of the Government Code
17
of the State of California; and
18
WHEREAS, on the 27th day of July, 1959, there was filed
19
with the City Clerk of the City of Newport Beach a report of said
20
Orange County Boundary Commission pursuant to the provisions of
21
Section 35002 of the Government Code of the State of California;
22
and
23
WHEREAS, the owners of all the territory to be annexed
24
have filed written consent to the annexation with the City Council;
25
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
26
City of Newport Beach that proceedings are hereby initiated by the
27
City of Newport Beach to annex the said territory hereinafter

described, which territory is contiguous to the present boundaries
•

of said City and which said territory now is uninhabited within the
30
meaning of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939 and
31
that the reasons for said annexation are that it would make

municipal services available to the property owners and be in the

best interests of the City of Newport Beach and its citizens that
said City annex said territory.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that it is proposed by said City
of Newport Beach to annex said hereinafter described territory to
said City, which said territory shall in these proceedings bear the
name of "CAMEO HIGHLANDS ANNEX ". The specific description of the
boundaries of the territory so proposed to be annexed is as follows:
That portion of Blocks 95, 131 and 130 of the Irvine
Subdivision as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 1,
page 88 of Miscellaneous Record Maps in the office of the
Recorder of Orange County, California, described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the boundary of the
city of Newport .Beach with the Northeasterly line of
Pacific Coast Highway (U.S. 101 Alt.) said intersection
being also the Southerly corner of Lot 3, Tract 1237, as
shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 40, pages 19 and
20 of Miscellaneous Maps in the office of the Recorder of
Orange County, California and running thence S 58° 38' 00"
E along said Northeasterly line, 1,526.88 feet to the
beginning of a curve in said State Highway line designated
as Station 231 + 99.53 as shown on said Tract map, said
curve being concave Southwesterly and having a radius of
2,050 feet; thence Southeasterly along said curve and
Highway line through a central angle of 8° 11' 00" a
distance of 292.79 feet to the beginning of a tangent
line in said Northeasterly Highway line; thence S 50° 27'
00" E along said Northeasterly line, 330.00 feet; thence
N 39° 33' 00 " E 364.00 feet; thence N 250 50' 00°t E,
465.00 feet;- thence N O1° 15' 00" E, 387.00 feet; thence
N 85° 58' 00" W, 190.00 feet; thence N 720 32' 00 " W,
174.00 feet•. thence N 570 15' 00 "' West, 647.00 feet;
thence N 608 55' 00" W, 410.00 feet; thence N 71° 32' 30"
W, 271.93 feet to the Easterly corner of Lot 181, Tract .
1237 and the boundary of the city of Newport Beach; thence
generally Southwesterly along the Southeasterly line of said
Tract and City boundary to the point of beginning.
FURTHER NOTICE.IS HEREBY GIVEN that on , the
/546'( day of , , 1959, at the hour of 7 :30 P. Z on said
day, or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the
Council Chamber of the City Hall of the City of Newport Beach, 3300
Newport Boulevard, Newport Beach, California, a hearing will be had,
at which hearing the City Council shall hear and pass upon all
written protests filed at any time before said hour set for said
hearing by any person owning real property within the territory
proposed to be annexed, and at any time before the hour set for said

ill hearing any owner of property within the territory proposed to be
. 2 annexed may file a written protest against the annexation. The
• 3 protest shall set forth the name of the owner of the property
4 affected and give a description of the said property in general
5 terms.
6 The City Clerk of the City of Newport Beach is hereby
7 authorized and directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be
8 published once a week for two weeks, said publication to be
9 complete at least twenty (20) days prior to the date set for the
10 hearing, and the publication shall be in the Newport Harbor News
11 Press, a newspaper of general circulation printed and published in
12 the City of Newport Beach, and _KG' � tia.2o� 9L
13 a newspaper of general circulation printed and published in the
14 County of Orange and outside the City of Newport Beach.
15 The City Clerk is further authorized and directed to
16 mail a notice of the proposed annexation to all persons to whom
17 land proposed to be annexed is assessed in the last available
18 equalized assessment roll, at the address shown thereon or as known
19 to said City Clerk.

the City of Newport Beach, California, at a regular meeting of
