17EIaERLAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach,
pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 4 of Article VILI of the
Newport Beach Municipal Code, by Resolution No. 5126 declared weeds
on certain streets, sidewalks, parkways, and private property is
said City to be a public nuisance, and designated the Street
Superintendent of the City of Newport Beach as the person to give
notice to destroy such weeds, which notice was given by him in
accordance with the above mentioned chapter and article of the
Municipal Code; and
T-UM .AS, pursuant to said notice a public hearing was
held to allow protests to the removal of such weeds and, no protes
having been made or received, the City Council ordered the Street
Superintendent to proceed with the abatement of weeds; and
ME ` S, the Street superintendent of the City of Newport
Beach kept an account of the cost of abatement and, upon the com-
pletion of said weed abatement, rendered an itemized report in
writing to the City Council showing the cost of removing the weeds
on or in front of.each separate lot or parcel of land; and
IMAZI.AS, before the said itemized report was submitted to
the City Council, the Street Superintendent posted a copy of it
for at least three days on the bulletin board at the City Ball,
with a notice that the loth day of March, 1960, at 7:30 P. M. had
been fixed as the time, and the Council Chambers in the City (fall
of the City of Newport Beach had been fixed as the place, for
submission of said report to the City Council for confirmation and
for hearing obJections to the acceptance of said work and the
assessment of the costs therefor against the parcels of land from
which the weed nuisance had been abated, and the required notice

as given as provided for by Section 7424 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code; and
&MIREA-S, no ob„ections to the acceptance of said work
and assessment of the costs therefor were submitted to the City
Council at said hearing;
NCT-7, TI EREFCRE°, BE IT R SOLVED that the itemized report
of the Street Superintendent of the City of Newport Beach showing
the cost of removing the weeds on or in front of each separate
lot or parcel of land designated therein, which report is attached
hereto as Exhibit "A99 and made a part hereof, be and the same is
hereby confirmed and the cost of abating the nuisance in front of
or upon the various parcels as confirmed shall constitute a specia
assessment against the respective parcels of land and shall be a
lien thereon until paid.
