A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY Of
N- EMPCRT BEACH AUTHORIZING PETITION TO THE BOARD
OF SUPERVISORS OE ORANGE, COUNTY.TO HAVE PROPERTY
WITHIN TIC CITY OF L + JPORT BEACH 12110EPT,EiD FROK.
THE LEVY OF AHY ORANGE COUNTY TAX TO PROVIDE
STRUCTURAL FIRE PROTECTION .
!UrLL1TAS3 the City of Newport Beach is a municipal corpora-
tion incorporated and now existing under and by virtue of a charter
granted under the laws of the State of California; and
1 +SMIREAS, the City of Newport Beach lies in the County of
Orange in the State of California, and does now provide structural
fire protection to all property within the incorporated limits of
said City by maintaining a fire department with fire fighting
egvipment.and with trained, competent personnel under outstanding
leadership, which said department has available to it a water
system with adequate pressure, circulated through large trunk mains
all of which has resulted in the organized fire department of the
City providing adequate structural fire protection to all property
within the City; and
M-MM ,AS, no additional benefit in £ire protection is
received or required by such property from structural fire protec-
tion given by the County; and
Tr}3iLRMS, Section 25643 of the Government Code of the
State of California provides for a petition supported by a resolu-
tion to have property in an area such as the City of Newport Beach
excepted from the levy of any tax for the purpose of providing
structural fire protection on the part of the County in which such
area is located;
14017, THEREFORE, BE IT R SOINED that the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach hereby authorizes and directs a petition
to be presented to the honorable Board of Supervisors of Orange
County, supported by a certified copy of this resolution, petition-
ing said County to comply with said Government Code Section 25643,

and that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and directed to
execute and attest and transmit said petition on behalf of the City
of Newport Beach.

of the City of Newport Beach filed and maintained in my office,
the foregoing Resolution No. 5234 was duly and
regularly adopted, passed, and approved by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach, California, at a regular meeting of
said City Council held at the regular meeting place thereof, on
the 9th day of May 19 60 , by the following
