2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A
3 CONTRACT.BETWEBN.THE.CITY OF NEWPORT.BEACH AND
THE.COSTA.MESA,COUNTY WATER.DISTRICT FOR THE .
4 USE OF BIG CANYON RESERVOIR

g WHEREAS, there is presently excess capacity in the City'
7 600�acre -foot reservoir; and
8 WHEREAS, the Costa Mesa County Water District has a need
9 for water storage capacity until such time as it has provided for
10 water storage; and
11 WHEREAS, it would be in the interest of the City and the
12 Costa Mesa County Water District and in the public interest for
13 the two agencies to share Big Canyon Reservoir for the storage of
14 water for domestic use for an interim period of time; and
15 WHEREAS, a contract entitled "Agreement re Use of Big
16 Canyon Reservoir's dated the 31st day of May, 1961, providing for
17 a term of five years commencing with the date of the contract and
18 ending on May 31, 1966, has been prepared and approved by the
19 Costa Mesa County Water District; and
20. WHEREAS, said agreement has been presented to the City
21 Council and reviewed and found to be fair and equitable;
22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City
28 Clerk be and are hereby authorized and directed to execute the
24 agreement with the Costa Mesa County Water District providing for
25 said District to share the reservoir capacity in accordance with
26 the provisions of said contract.
