1 RESOLUTION NO. 5469
2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH PROHIBITING PEDESTRIANS FROM CROSSING
3 PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY AT ITS.INTERSECTION WITH THE
NORTHERLY LEG OF HELIOTROPE AVENUE_

5 WHEREAS, pedestrians' crossing Pacific Coast Highway at
6 its intersection with the northerly leg of Heliotrope Avenue in
7 the City of Newport Beach delays vehicular traffic and constitutes
8 a hazard for the pedestrians crossing Pacific Coast Highway at
9 that point; and
10 WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to prohibit pedes-
11 trians from crossing Pacific Coast Highway at that point;
12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Traffic Engineer
13 is authorized and directed to install signs directing that pedes-
14 trians shall not cross Pacific Coast Highway at the southerly pro -
15 longation of the sidewalks on the easterly and the westerly side
16 of the northerly leg of Heliotrope Avenue in the City of Newport
17 Beach.
18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the provisions of this reso:
19 tion are subject to the written approval of the Department of
20 Public Works of the State of California and shall cease to be
21 operative six (6) months after receipt by the City Council of
22 written notice of withdrawAl of approval by said Department of
23 Public Works.
