A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING A FINE ARTS COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to promote the arts within the
community; and
WHEREAS, .the City of Newport Beach is desirous of making.its
City Hall and other public buildings both available and useful to its citizens;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council is desirous of forming, an advisory
committee. to the City Manager of Newport Beach with regard to display of the
arts within the City Hall and other public buildings; and
WHEREAS, such an advisory committee would be.in the best in-
terests of the citizens of .the- City of Newport Beach;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that there. shall be and is
hereby established a Fine Arts Committee. for the. City of Newport Beach. Said
committee shall consist of five members appointed by the City Council. each for
a term of three years. They shall serve without compensation. One. shall be
named. Chairman by.the.City Council. The Fine Arts Committee shall be
advisory to the - City Manager and shall have .the power and duty (a) to select
displays of the arts within public buildings; (b) to publicize such displays;
(c) in cooperation with the City-Manager to promote generally cultural activities
within the City of Newport Beach; and.(d) to represent the City in connection
with..similar cultural and artistic endeavors.
