A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO

INCLUDE WITHIN THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANCING
PROGRAM THE DEVELOPMENT OF.JAMBOREE ROAD

WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach desires to improve
6
Jamboree Road from Bayside Drive to Mac Arthur Boulevard; and

WHEREAS, Jamboree Road is an important artery in the
8
County of Orange and of general County interest; and
9
WHEREAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9, Division 2

of the Streets and highways Code authorizes a County, if it so
11
desires, to expend funds apportioned to it out of the California
12
Highway Users Tax Fund for aid to any City in the improvement,
I
13
construction or repair of a street within a City; and
14
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by appro-
15
priate action, provide in the County budget of the Special Road
16
Improvement Fund for the Fiscal Year 1962 - 1963 a sum of money
17
for the improvement of streets within the incorporated cities of
18
the County in accordance with the Orange County Arterial Highway
19
Financing Program.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
21
the City of Newport Beach hereby requests the Board of Supervisors

of the County of Orange to allocate to said City from County Funds
23
the amount of $101,500, said amount to be matched by funds from
24
said City, to be used to aid said City in the improvement of
25
Jamboree Road from Bayside Drive to Mac Arthur Boulevard, and for
26
the acquisition of necessary rights of way; said improvements and
27
acquisition of rights of way to be in accordance with the project
28
statement attached hereto.

BE IT FURTI4ER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of
30
the County of Orange is hereby requested to find that said work an
31
acquisition of rights of way on Jamboree Road, in the wanner pro-

vided, is in the general County interest.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, by this resolution, the City
of Newport Beach agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial
Highway Financing Program; and further agrees that its share of
the cost of improvements and rights of way will be available for
the fiscal year 1962 - 1963.
ADOPTED this 26th day of December, 1961.
