RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH REQUESTING THE CALIFORNIA STATE
HIGHWAY COMMISSION TO RECOGNIZE THE NEED FOR
LANDSCAPING ALONG FREEWAYS WITHIN THE CITY
WHEREAS, the State of California plans a Coastal Freeway,
a Newport Freeway, and a Corona del Dear Freeway, allcf which will
travel through or near the City of Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach has consistently
maintained a high standard of beautification of its public facili-
ties; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach and its residents are
united in their recognition of the need for beautification of the
area through proper landscaping of major traffic arteries;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council does)
request the California State Highway Commission to take cognizance
of the need for effective landscaping of present and proposed free.

the State Division of Highways Landscape Staff confer with the City';
Administrative Staff to tine end that proposed freeways in or
adjacent to Newport Beach shall be in keeping with the surrounding
areas.
