RESOLUTION NO. 5579
„
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY „COUNCIL OF,THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH APPROVING A PROPOSED FREEWAY ROUTE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City'of Newport Beach,
in consort with other coastal cities, did adopt Resolution 4559
dated the 22nd day of October, 1956, and did approve the Orange
County Master Plan.of Arterial Highways, including a coastal
highway routing inland of the present Coast Highway 101 -A ;and;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach'did
mx adopt,a Resolution dated January 13, 1958, incorporating said
1. coastal highway in its Master Plan and;
WHEREAS, the City Council has carefully reviewed the alter -
natgs proposed by the State Highway Engineer;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council does
hereby recommend to the State Highway Engineer that the route most
closely approximating the City's Master Plan titled "Alternative
No, 111 (the green -blue -green -red line) be adopted as 4 freeway
route.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council, after discussion
with the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, recognizing the
lack of support for a freeway route through Costa Mesa, suggests
to the,State Highway Engineer consideration of a southerly dis -,
.Fplacement of Alternative No. 1 (the red line) as shown on the City's
�,maap attached hereto.

BE.IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor of the City of Newport
Beach is authorized and instructed to present the City's position
in this matter before the Public Hearing to be conducted by the
State Division of Highways on April 19, 1962, at the Newport Union
High School.
ADOPTED at an adjourned regular meeting this 17th day of April,
1962.
