A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING A PARKING PERMIT
SYSTEM AND FEES THEREFOR
WHEREAS, Section 3291.7 of the Newport Beach Municipal
Code provides that in off - street parking meter zones established
by resolution a vehicle may be parked and remain parked in a park-
ing space without the deposit of coin if such vehicle has displayed
a current valid parking permit issued by the City pursuant to the
authorization of the City Council established by resolution; and
WHEREAS, certain off - street parking meter zones have been
established where the use of such permit would be convenient and
in the public interest; and
WHEREAS, it would also be convenient-and in the public
interest to authorize the use of the.annual parking permit herein-
after provided for use of the parking facilities at the Corona del
Mar State and City Beach Park and in the Balboa Parking Lot;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED-
1. There is hereby established a parking permit system
which includes an annual parking permit at a fee of $7.50, a monthly
parking permit at a fee of $3.00, and a weekly parking permit at a
fee of $1.00. A vehicle displaying any such permit in the wind-
shield thereof that is issued by the City pursuant hereto and is
current during the time the vehicle is parked shall be authorized
to park at a meter in off - street parking meter zones 11, 12, 13,
and 15 without the deposit.of coins in the parking meter adjacent
to the parking apace.
The annual parking permit when so displayed shall also
authorize the use of the parking facilities at the Corona del Mar
State and City Beach Park and the Balboa Parking.Lot without the
• payment of an additional parking fee when such facilities and lot.
are open to parking and space is available therein. It shall not,
however, establish any priority for parking space.
2. The permits hereinbefore established shall be appro-
priately designed and dated to indicate the appropriate year or
month'or week during which the permit is current. Such permits
shall be made available in the Finance Department in the City Hall
during regular office hours.
3, The City Manager is authorized and directed to put
the parking permit system hereby established into effect and to
take such steps as are necessary to do so.
