2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HM.4FORT BEACH STATING THE CITY'S POSITION RELATIVE
3 TO DISPOSAL OF SEWAGE EFFLUENT IN AREAS TRIBUTARY
TO UPPER NE`v3PORT BAY

5I WHEREAS, Rossmoor Leisure World has submitted an applica-
6 tion to the Santa Anna Regional Water Pollution Control Board for
7 the purpose of setting standards for the disposal of sewage effluent
8 from their proposed development into the Upper Newport Bay drainage
9 basin; and
10 WHEREAS, the Orange County Sanitation Districts own,
11 operate and maintain trunk lines, pump stations, treatment planet
12 and an ocean outfall line for the disposal of sewage; and
13 WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is vitally interested
14 in maintaining the waters of Upper Newport Bay in as unpolluted a
15 condition as possible;
16 NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Newport
17 Beach recommends that the Sancta Ana Regional Water Pollution Control
18 Board require use of the facilities of the Orange County Sanitation
19 Districts for the disposal of all sewage or effluent originating in
20 areas tributary to Upper Newport Bay; and
21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Newport Beach is
22 unalterably opposed to the disposal of any sewage effluent or other
23 material into said drainage basin that in any possible way could
24 cause pollution and contamination to the waters of said Upper
25 Newport Bay.

the foregoing Resolution Noe 5634 was duly and
regularly adopted, passed, and approved by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach, California, at a regular meeting of
said City Council held at the regular meeting place thereof, on
the 25th day of June 1962 , by the following
vote, to wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: Gruber, Cook, Hart, Lorenz, Marshall,
Elder
NOES, COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: Stoddard
