RESOLUTION NO. 5648
2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OR
NMRIPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A
3 CONTRACT UNDER WHICH THE CITY FURNISiiES LIFE-
GUARD SERVICE AND IS REIMBURSED BY ORANGE COUNTY

5 WH34REAS, the public beaches in the City are being used
6 by large numbers of residents of the County who are not residents
7 of the City, with the result of an increase in cost of maintenance
8 of the beaches and furnishing service therefor.- and
9 C,MMMAS, residents of the City make use of beaches in
10 the unincorporated area of the County adjacent to the City.- and
11 WHMMEAS, it is deemed necessary that lifeguard service
12 be furnished to the areas of the County outside the City, which
13 can be done conveniently with City forces; and
14 M— M -REAS, $542600 is the estimated cost to the City of
15 maintaining the public beaches in the City and furnishing services
16 therefor as a result of the use by said residents of the County
17 and of supplying lifeguard service to the County beaches adjoining
18 the City for the fiscal year 1962 -1963.- and
19 10HERZAS, an agreement has been presented to the City
20 Council in which Orange County agrees to pay the City $54,600 to
21 reimburse the City for said costs and pay for said services.-
22 NOU2 THEPEFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
23 the City of Newport Beach hereby approves the proposed agreement
24 and requests that amount of financial assistance from the County
25 for reimbursement of the cost and payment for the service.
26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk be
27 and are hereby authorized and directed to execute said agreement on
28 behalf of the City of Newport Beach.
