A 1 RESOLUTION NO. 5837
2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING A NO PARKING AREA

WHEREAS, Section 3272 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code
5
provides that the City Council may by resolution establish no park -
6
ing areas and, when appropriate signs or markings are in place, no
7
person shall stop, stand, or park a vehicle in the no parking area
8
so established; and
9
WHEREAS, Section 22506 of the Vehicle Code provides that
10
local authorities may by resolution prohibit the parking of
11
vehicles on a state highway if such resolution is first submitted
12
to and approved by the Department of Public Works; and
13
WHEREAS, the District Engineer of the Division of High -
14
ways has requested the establishment of a no parking area on the
15
northerly side of Pacific Coast Highway starting at a point 50 feet
16
easterly of the southerly extension of the center line of Irvine
17
Avenue and from there easterly along the northerly side of said
18
highway to a point 280 feet easterly of said southerly extension of
19
the center line of Irvine Avenue; and
20
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered said request
21
and has determined that said area is an area where parking should
22
be prohibited;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the northerly side
24
of Pacific Coast Highway starting at a point 50 feet easterly of
25
the southerly extension of the center line of Irvine Avenue and
26
from there easterly along the northerly side of said highway to a
27
point 280 feet easterly of said southerly extension of the center
28
line of Irvine Avenue is hereby designated as a no parking area.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said prohibition on parking
30
is subject to the approval in writing of the Department of Public
31
Works of the State of California and that upon receiving such writ -
32
ten approval the city traffic engineer be and is hereby authorized

_ I and directed to sign and mark said area to indicate that parking
2 is prohibited as provided in Section 3272 of the Newport Beach
3 Municipal Code.
4 ADOPTED this 12th day of August, 1963.
