3 TO ZONING NEAR EL TORO DINE BASE,

5 1,1MIELS, there is substantial economic value to Orange
6 County in the continued operation of El Toro Marine Base; and
7 I,R, S, said base is a necessity from a military stand -
8 point and is of substantial interest to the people of Orange County
9 and the people of the .state of California and is in the national
10 interest; and
11 Tv==c, authorization is being sought to develop exten-
12 sive housing in the approach pattern of the military aircraft; and
13 Ir'I-I=UJiS, the effect of this development would necessarily
14 be to drive the military aircraft to another location and would
15 ultimately result in this large and important military base being
16 reduced in size and importance or closed;
17 NOa, HERI F=29 BZ IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
18 the city of Newport ?3each hereby urges the Board of Supervisors of
191 Orange County to establish and maintain zoning on all of the land
20 within the aircraft approach pattern at E1 Toro which would pe;=it
21 only uses which would be compatible with the continued use of El
22 Toro Marine Base for military aircraft.

24 be sent immediately to the Honorable Board of Supervisors oa Crange
25 County.
