RESOLUTION NO. 6195
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH IN SUPPORT OF THE APPLICATION OF
CHARLES W. JOBBINS FOR AN A.M. BROADCASTING
STATION IN THE COSTA MESA - NEWPORT BEACH AREA
WHEREAS, Charles W. Jobbins of Newport Beach has filed
an application with the Federal Communications Commission to
establish an A.M. radio broadcasting station in the Costa Mesa -
Newport Beach area; and
WHEREAS, the Cities of Costa Mesa and Newport Beach
have experienced phenomenal growth in the past decade and now have
a combined total population in excess of 100,000 people; and
WHEREAS, at the present time the Costa Mesa - Newport
Beach area is not adequately served by existing A.M. radio broad-
casting facilities located in the Los Angeles Metropolitan area and
in Northern Orange County; and
WHEREAS, the Costa Mesa - Newport Beach area comprises a
distinct community which would derive substantial benefits from
the establishment of a local A.M. radio broadcasting station;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this City Council
strongly supports the application of Charles W. Jobbins for an A.M.
radio station in the Costa Mesa - Newport Beach area and urges the
Federal Communications Commission to grant this application.
ADOPTED this 26th day of July, 1965.

Beach, California, at a regular meeting of said City Council held at the
regular meeting place thereof, on the 26th day of
